I had looked at my Office ‘Account’ page which confirmed that I had all the latest updates and that I had the versions of Office components, e. Note the ‘automatic updates’ bit, which clearly hadn’t happened and had not been disabled by me. This page also claimed that my files were up to date, which was not true. It worked, and I now have all the components, including Access for Windows , and the Help libraries that go with them and which are the ones I wanted, whereas the components did not have any help attached.

So it seems to me that the subscription Office does not provide automatic updates. You have to know that they are available, then reinstall. Maybe, to be fair, I have missed something somewhere; I’m becoming quite an expert in how to be confused If I am wrong I hope someone corrects me!
